New England Weekend

August 27th, 2010 by calledout

What up peeps?? Guess where we are now? You won’t ever guess…so I’ll just tell ya. We are on I-95 driving through Stamford, CT on our way to Coventry, RI for the first stop on our New England swing. Can’t believe this will be our 3rd trip up here…unbelievable. Just traversed the Big Apple and once again were in awe of the traffic. It takes like two hours to go a few miles when at home in Tennessee we would be there in 15 minutes. Craziness for sure. Well worth the effort though…the folks up here give the south a run for it’s money where hospitality is concerned. Tonight we are with our friend Joe Hadfield and his event at Coventry High School…Saturday we will be feeling “capey” while staying in Chatham, MA and singing at Brewster Baptist Church. Saturday morning we’ll be getting to hear our friend Doug Scalise preach at Brewster Baptist (while getting the privilege to sing a song or two before), then we head Boston way to Sharon, MA with our dear friend Joe Fitzgerald and all his friends at Victory Assembly of God. It will all end too quick I know, but right now it’s all about the anticipation of what the good Lord has in store for us. Stay tuned!

Two weeks ago we all went back to Marty’s home town of Betsy Layne, KY (as far east in Kentucky as you can get before slipping over into West Virginia). Had an incredible weekend from all aspects. Wonderful to see Marty’s hometown again, great services at all 3 churches, and incredible hospitality from our hosts Tim and Dee Dee McCoy. Tim was Marty’s youth minister when he lived there and was there with him (and the youth group) the day he got saved. Special place full of special people.

Having a hard time typing on the bumpy roads full of stop and go traffic….so I’ll sign off for now. Real quick…we were just the recipient of a random act of kindness. Driving down the road here in Connecticut and random driver honked and got Darrell’s attention and told us about a local ordinance prohibiting trailers in the fast lane. Would have been very upset had we gotten pulled over for that…don’t know you dude…but thanks for caring enough to take the time to stop us.

For those who have bought our new Christmas CD…not sure I can completely attest for your sanity as you listen to White Christmas in August…but hey, no complaints here….thank you all from the bottom of our tinsel wrapped hearts. We wondered how it would be received so early and all, but those concerns are vanquished. Will be more appropriate when we hit Gatlinburg in November. Don’t forget to look up the details and book your trip early. Will be great fun as always.

Have an awesome weekend and we’ll catch you all on the flip side…

Homecoming…here we come

August 6th, 2010 by calledout

First…how about them clips Marty hooked up for us? And the new music player, MUCH better than before. In case you haven’t noticed…when you change pages within the site it keeps playing the song instead of starting over again! Sweet. Also, it randomly picks songs to play when you show up, so you don’t get the same song over and over. What will they think of next. In case you’ve come over to the site and found it “out of sorts” Marty has been toying with new themes and new colors trying to get the site spruced up a bit more. The one way to see those changes “live” is to take the new site “live” every now and then with the new stuff and see how the code and such is working out. Not to fear….just refresh it in a few minutes and it will be back to normal. Back that is until the site truly is new …so keep looking for that sometime down the road.

Spent the evening with “the boys” getting the sound system set up and making sure everything worked just right. Oh…and on the way, I picked up the first lot of the new Christmas CD! Should be in high cotton for this weekend with CD’s….very excited about that. Kind of funny…it’s almost like having puppies or something when a new CD comes out. Hard to explain…

Looking forward to the Homecoming Saturday night (this Saturday August 7th) at McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church in Madison, TN (see address in my previous post). Got calls, texts, emails, and Facebook messages from so many of our dear friends traveling down to be with us. Will be praying for God’s traveling mercy on every one of you guys. If your coming be sure and bring lots of heavy jackets and sweaters because it’s freezing cold here in Nashville right now….NOT!!! It’s only about 150 degrees in the shade. Be ready for the steam bath we call the South…

Not sure if I’ll have time for another update before Saturday. Look forward to seeing you all. Take care and hope you all have an awesome weekend. Got a group of friends leaving on a mission trip to Jamaica…will be praying for God’s grace and protection on you guys. Also got one friend who had to say good-bye to her 17 year old brother after a very intense battle with leukemia. Remind me never to complain about anything ever again…life’s just too short and too precious. God bless you Susan…our love and our prayers are with you in this difficult time…
