Thought I Forgot How To Write???
Well I’m sure you guys thought….where in the world is Von? Sorry…been a busy boy these days. Meant to send an update over 100 times, but never got the chance. Hope all you lovely ladies out there had an awesome Valentine’s Day last Saturday. I was in Hotlanta with my hot wife enjoying a weekend of cheerleading at its best at the last cheer competition Savannah will be doing for this school year. Had a great time…love watching her and her crew do their thing…simply incredible. Ran by The Varsity on the way home and loaded up on some good, greasy drive-in food. Usually associate The Varsity with a Braves games, but alas…wasn’t quite the time for that…though it’s just around the corner. Got to back up though before I talk too much about this past weekend, there was a weekend before in East Tennessee and you guys usually know what that means…
Yep…Called Out Quartet pulled up to our dear friend Jerry White’s humble abode two weekends ago and got a good night’s sleep (relatively speaking…a good night after we stayed up until 2:00am) before heading out to sing Sunday morning and Sunday night there in his neck of the woods. Need to quickly throw a “shout out” to Kristy and Kevin Seeber (Jerry and Phyllis’ daughter and son-in-law)…they are expecting their second child!! Congrats guys…we love you all and can’t wait to see the newest member of the Seeber clan later this year.
Sunday morning had us going to West Emory Baptist right there outside of Knoxville, close to Oak Ridge, TN. Awesome service…got to sing, hear a great message from their new pastor, and see a lost soul seek and eventually find salvation. Can’t very well top that…it’s what this is all about. Enjoyed seeing the Massengale’s from Oliver Springs that morning as well. Appreciate you guys making the trip over and enjoyed the song you guys sang…excellent job.
Sunday night had us in nearby Crossville, TN, for the first time singing at Memorial Baptist Church. Neat place with a fun pastor who didn’t mind some joking around. Was surprised to see Jess’ parents and nephew there…it’s only about two hours from Nashville, but still…you’d think they’ve seen us enough. Look forward as always to getting back in that area. The folks are great and the Taco Bell around the corner treated us just right before we headed back down the trail to home in Nashville.
This past weekend, since I was out of town for the cheer thing, we only sang Sunday night…but wow…what a one Sunday night it was. We were at Calvary Baptist in Greenbrier, TN, (basically Nashville) and all kinds of people showed up to support us and worship the Lord all together. Ron, Cindy, and Clay Bowman surprised us (you all know Ron…our former piano player), lots of Jess’ family and friends from his church, and too many folks to count from my and Scott’s home church. Got to at least mention that my pastor, Bro. Johnny Carver, even took time out of his busy schedule to come hear us….meant allot to me and I know it meant allot to Scott as well. We were also accompanied that night by our dear friend and manager Eddie Crook. It was just a special night all the way around. Jess got filled up while Mr. Crook was playing “When They Ring Those Golden Bells” and began to testify of all the good things the Lord has done for him and especially about his salvation. That led to the rest of us sharing our testimonies and eventually a few folks on the altar. The church was baptizing a few new members that night during our break, so it was just special all the way around. Wish you could have all been there for it. Appreciate the pastor having us come over and can’t wait to get back.
Looks like we are off for the next couple of weeks taking care of business here in Nashville. Got lots to attend to and are welcoming this time off the road. Working on selecting new songs for the next CD among other things…so be looking for more news on that later. Also cooking up a special event or two for this year…perhaps this summer. Be on the lookout for more news there. Also keep track of our schedule…it seems to be changing daily. Appreciate all the good folks out there calling and emailing dates and potential dates for the remainder of 2009. Jess is diligently working to get those ironed out and will be getting back to you all shortly. If you’ve got any special events coming up that we can help you with…please don’t hesitate to call or email us. I know it’s early, but don’t forget about Gatlinburg in November. We’ve already got some rooms booked and have been working on some of the details on our end trying to make it even bigger and better than last year. At least go ahead and mark that time down on your calendar and consider joining us.
Hope you guys all have a great weekend. We had warm weather here for a few days…then tornadoes and hail…now we are back to below freezing temps. Had the doors off my Jeep for a brief time…looking forward now to when that top pops off and the warm weather returns for the long haul. Helps to keep my bald head a little browner so it doesn’t quite blind you guys so bad in those bright lights. Will be here before you know it I’m sure. Whatever weather you’ve got though, enjoy it for the great day it is. It’s a day the Lord has given us and we should rejoice in it!
Von and all the guys at CO4
