Thanks to everyone out there for your prayers, emails, phone calls, and kind words over the last week after I lost my mother-in-law. The Lord has been good to give us all grace and is continuing to support us as we get used to her departure. It was nice to get back to the road this past weekend....so without further adeu....

Everyone have a great Thanksgiving?? Collectively I believe I can say with confidence the 6 or us in the quartet had a wonderful one. I know...we have never REALLY addressed it, but yes...we are officially a "quartet"... and yes, we do have 6 members. How can we say it with a straight face? Easy....though no less important and part of our group, the musicians in a "vocal" quartet are not counted (like The Kingsmen Quartet with at least 3 musicians as one example are not referred to as The Kingsmen Septet nor are we reffered to as Called Out Sextet). So technically we are 6, but from a traditional "name" standpoint we are a quartet. Moving RIGHT along.... Click here for more.

Getting back on track...it's hard sometimes. When we started the quartet, then later when Marty created the website, I used to periodically write some things about lessons I had learned. Back then we didn't have many singings, so if I was going to talk week after week in the "news" section...it had to be about more than "us". No real new news on Ron's mom...appreciate all your prayers. She has been in fairly stable condition since this all started for her early last week. Her condition is still very serious and her prognosis is not promising. Continue to remember Ron and his family while they grapple with these very difficult and trying circumstances.
Though Ron and Brandon stayed home, the remainder of the quartet maintained our schedule by being at Kellytown Baptist and Big Mountain Baptist in Oliver Springs, TN this past Sunday... Click here for more.

Wow!!! What wonderful blessings we have gotten so far...and it's not over yet. Yesterday's Showcase at the South Wing Convention Hall was incredible. If you want to see some of it, Tammie Collier and Lisa Gaines got together and used their digital cameras to capture some of the songs (what the memory cards would take) and we've uploaded them to the multimedia page. I quick addition to this week's update by Marty....a "hero" to those of us who are Southern Gospel fans has lost his battle with Leukemia and gone on to be with the Lord. Roger Bennett passed away today Saturday March 17th. To follow the story...you can read the Legacy Five website or better yet, the family's blog here that has followed his battle for many years from hospitals, care centers, and sometimes home. Well…here we are in 2007. I was visiting a church where a friend of mine (and Darrell’s) pastors last week and he brought up a point I hadn’t thought about in years. I can truly remember being in school…maybe even about the age of my daughter Savannah who is 13 and attending the same school I did…and thinking about how old I would be in the year 2000. Sad, sad news from the Southern Gospel music industry. Anthony Burger passed away last night at the young age of 44. You can go here and read more about it from his friend Chuck Peters at SGLive365. He came to fame when he was the pianist for the Kingsmen in the late 70's and early 80's. Most recently you would find him touring with the Gaithers on their Homecoming series. I had to get out my Valentine's Day gift from my wife today (Gaither Homecoming Tour Live from Toronto) and watch him work his magic...he is featured prominently in it as well as most all the others. He left a wife and three children, so please pray for his family. He died doing what he loved to do, but that makes the pain no less for his family. Thanks for coming back to check in on us. Things were great this past weekend. We got the rare opportunity Sunday morning to all be together at our home church. Its great going out and visiting other churches and meeting new friends, but every once in a while it’s kinda nice to get to be at our home Sunday School class and singing in our home choir. Quick note for everyone. I got the opportunity to talk to Dave Wilcox at The Eddie Crook Company earlier today and got some clarification on the status of our radio single. It appears we got some things mixed up on when "Coming Into His Presence" will be released to radio. It looks now like it won't be out to radio until the end of July at the earliest, and it might actually be the first week of August. Click here for more.

Quick update for everyone on the surgery that was performed yesterday on Eld. Mike Reid's daughter, Anna Grace Reid, at Vanderbilt University here in Nashville. Marty Harris and Darrell Collier have both been by to visit and have a good report. Her surgery began early yesterday morning (Tuesday June 28th) and was completed by early afternoon.
